Pagan Bone Whistle (Decent Sampler VST)
This is a cheap bone whistle made from some sort of ox horn and bone. I’m not entirely sure of the quality of it or its authenticity. I got it for free with my Viking War horn I got a while ago. I always planned to record it and make a decent sampler VST out of it. It seems Today is that day!
The sound of this instrument is very shrill and high pitched. One of the reasons I haven’t made a vst out of it is because it only plays one note and it sounds rather bad in a musical context. Interestingly though, when you pitch it down a few octaves it has a really interesting character to it. It feels like a spaghetti western soundtrack. The tones are extremely organic and somewhat haunting, Ominous even. The sound is a solitary feeling with loads of atmosphere. I could easily see myself using this in a wide variety of contexts when it’s pitched down.
As always, I hope you all enjoy and if you make anything interesting with this or just want to message me about this vst, feel free to reach out.
